Just for those who are curious about what kind of changes they should expect on their Linkedin views and messages after getting the CISSP.. This is a short blog post about how it impacted mine.
Being in InfoSec, as long as you’ve got some experience under your belt, recruiters will definitely reach out to you, even if you’ve got your LinkedIn set as “not interested in new opportunities.” This is ABSOLUTELY very different than being in other industries.
I was a consultant for a while, doing project management and other analysis type roles, and trust me, recruiters reached out MUCH less frequently than in InfoSec.
I would say the CISSP effect was about 500% for my both profile views and messages from recruiters.
Detailed Before/After Graph
Of course, this is just my personal experience, and statistically it is NOT very significant, but I will keep monitoring this over time and see if anything changes.
As for new opportunities, it makes sense to look for a new gig once you get your CISSP, because if your company is anything like mine, they won’t instantly give you the raise you deserve for getting it.
If you don’t have your CISSP.. hopefully this article is a good enough motivator to get you off your feet and start studying!
